QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Queen Elizabeth National Park together with kigezi and kyambura wildlife reserves form one of the most diverse bionetwork in Africa . Rwenzori Mountains contain glacier waters that create a cosmic wetland structure. This structure has two lakes, L.Edward and L.George that are connected by Kazinga channel. Countless Hippos occupy these lake shores and an open savannah with Acacia trees provides shelter to elephants, leopards, lions, Kobs and buffaloes. Over nine primate species with chimpanzees dwell there. There are many animals repeatededly seen such as the giant forest hog, crocodiles, waterbucks and hyenas. Queen Elizabeth National Park is swanky of extra bird species compared to any park in Africa.

The Local People

Queen Elizabeth National Park was nominated as a reserve with the conservation and protection of wildlife, wetlands and natural resources in 1979. It consists of eleven fishing villages cooperative within the secluded area. Many tribal groups, very much related both in language and culture live in this region i.e. Banyankore, Bakiga and Bakonjo. These have much customs in common.

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls Protected Area (MFPA) comprises of murchison falls National Park(MFNP), Bugungu and karuma wildlife reserves. Murchison falls National Park derives its name from the murchison falls where the mighty River Nile explodes through a narrow gorge and flows down to become a placid river whose banks are throned with hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and buffaloes. The vegetation is characterized by savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wildlife includes lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, Uganda kobs, chimpanzees and many bird species incliding the rare shoebill.

Games Drive

In the cool early morning before the sun rises too high, you will see plenty of game on the Buligi, Albert and Queen's tracks north of the River Nile. At Nyamusika cliffs you can picnic, enjoy the view and watch elephants and othergame on the grassy hillsides. Go well prepared for a 4 hr game drive. Ensure you are accompained by a guide. The best time is 0700hrs and 1600hr

Day 1

Our tour guide will pick you up from Your hotel in Kampala and drive you westward. Take a stop over at the Equator and take some photos. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National park arriving in lunch hours. Take lunch and visit the crater lakes region. The park hosts diversity of animals , dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward . Almost 100 species that include Hippos, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hogtogether with many primates. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge / Institute of Ecology (FB).

Day 2

Take breakfast and go for chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge. You will encounter various primates like Black and white Colobus monkeys , red tailed monkeys, mangabeys along side with chimpanzees and other animals like antelopes, hyenas, Lion and many others in the middle of savanna grassland. This gorge is a home of very many bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch and relax before taking an afternoon Launch cruise along on Kazinga channel. This will expose you to various wildlife up close: hippo's huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to a wide range of bird species including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork among others. After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to the lodge. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Institute of Ecology (FB)

Day 3

We will leave for Murchison Falls National Park . Pass via L. Albert On a clear day, the view on the top of the Albert rift is spectacular. We will arrive in time for dinner and Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Red chili Camp (FB)

Day 4

Take breakfast and go for Chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest . This is a virgin area of natural forest within Budongo Forest Reserve where you can trek underneath mahogany and iron wood trees. Chimpanzee tracking is the most interesting activity in the area. You will certainly see many forest birds, including the chocolates-backed Kingfisher, the white-thigh hornbill and puvel's illadopsis which are restricted only in this area and not else where in east Africa . We will drive back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will assemble in the launch for your launch cruise to the bottom of the falls. This launch trip along the Nile is often regarded as the highlight of a trip to Murchison . Along this stretch of the river, there are reported to be around 4,000 hippos in addition to some enormous Nile crocodiles. The bird life is a worth while with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks. If lucky, you may see the rare and legendary shoebill.Dinner and Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lode or Red chili Camp (FB)

Day 5

After breakfast, we will depart with our packed lunch to Kampala .
