8 DAYS TOUR EASTERN UGANDA - MT ELGON CAVES

Day 1: ARRIVAL

Our tour representative will welcome you at the airport and transfer you your hotel in Kampala. Or if you arrive in the morning, our guide will take you around the city for a thrilling introduction to the city of seven beautiful hills. You will Visit some interesting and historical sites, including the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Kasubi Tombs, the Uganda Museum and of course the African Craft Village. The guide will also take you to to the forex bureau around to make money exchange. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Africana/ Serena Hotel or a hotel in your Budget.

Day 2: KAMPALA - JINJA

Take break fast and leave for Jinja one of the historical cities and formerly the industrial cities of Uganda. This is the where the source of the river Nile can be traced from. Along the way, you will take a stop over at Mabira forest for a picnic and a forest walk in search for various primates and later have a picnic lunch. Proceed to Jinja city visit the source of the Nile then proceed to Bujagali falls. At Bujagali falls there are many optional activities like, white water rafting, floating down on the challenging rapids and relaxing on the shores of the Nile, Bungee Jumping among others. Dinner and overnight at Kingfisher Resort/ Hotel Triangle/ Jinja Nile resort / The Nile porch or any hotel in your budget.

Day 3: JINJA – THE FOOT HILLS OF MOUNT ELGON

After breakfast , driver further to the East . We will pass through Iganga, Busembatya , Mbale to Sironko a charming town at the Foot hills of Mt Elgon. This area is composed of rich heritage and intriguing ethnicity. With some striking outlook points on our route, we will reach Sipi Village, lying between waterfalls and mountains. After lunch, you will enjoy a hike to the lovely Sipi Falls. You will pass via typical African bandas, banana plantations and maize fields while you hike to the different waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at Lacam Lodge.

Day 4: PISWA CAMP

Take breakfast and move to Kapkwata peak at 2190 meters, from where you will start your hike, following the Kapkwata Trail. It is a charming route running through the bamboo, heath and moor land, arriving at the Piswa Camp at 2850 meters. Retire for dinner and camping at Piswa Hut Campsite.

Day 5: HUNTERS CAVE CAMP

Hike upwards to the brim of the caldera through the beautiful columns of the most unique
and prevalent plant species like the giant Lobelia Elgonensis. And certainly a rest to the slopes of Mount Elgon can’t go without discovery of the wild Everlasting flowers. Visit the hot springs and Suam Gorge before moving downto the Hunters Cave Camp at 3850 meters. Dinner and camping at Hunters Cave Camp.

Day 6: MUDE CAVE CAMP

After breakfast hike up to the top of the Caldera to Wagagai Peak at 4321 m. Slope down through the Jackson summit (4200 meter) and the Jackson pool to arrive at Mude Cave Camp at 3500 meters. Dinner and camping at Mude Cave Camp.

Day 7: MOUNT ELGON - KAMPALA

Very early in the morning move down through the Sasa trail to Budadiri and then we will drive you back to Mbale town. After having lunch in this calm place we will continue to Kampala where you can relax and reflect your climb of the second highest peak in Uganda. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Africana.

Day 8: DEPARTURE

With all the awesome experience of a lifetime and memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa gifted by nature. . Depending on the time of departure you might have some time to spend in Kampala and shop for a souvenir for remembrance. Or leave early for Entebbe and visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre for a last meeting with the beautiful flora and fauna of the country. Afterwards we will transfer you to the airport for your flight back home
