GORILLA SAFARIS - CHIMPANZES

Day 1: ARRIVAL

You will be picked up by a representative from Abbiron tours who will welcome you and transfer you to your Hotel in Entebbe . If you arrive in the morning, you will take an excursion around Entebbe , visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) for a an introduction to an extraordinary flora and fauna that have been habituated. Dinner and overnight at Sophie's Motel / Imperial resort beach hotel Entebbe/ Windsor Hotel/ Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel.  

Day 2 : NGAMBA ISLAND

Assemble at the lake shores and board the boat to the island of the chimpanzees! Leave from Entebbe for a close encounter with man's closest primate. After a pleasant boat ride you will reach Ngamba Island, where you will be directed to the visitors centre to learn more about the chimps and their lifestyle. You will be able to view and photograph these fascinating apes in their natural environment from only a few metres away! In the afternoon you will take a boat ride back to Entebbe and return to your hotel.

Day 3: ENTEBBE - KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

You will be picked from your hotel and drive westwards to Fortportal. After breakfast we will depart Entebbe and head west to Fort Portal . This fabulous town is placed in the shadow of the fabled mountains of the moon and is well-known for the various tea plantations. From Fort Portal we will proceed to Kibale National Park for a stay within the tropical forest. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale/ Mantana tented camps/ Sky tree house

Day 4: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK & BIGODI SWAMP

Today you take breakfast and assemble at Kanyankyu tourist centre to get a briefing from the guides who will take you on for the sensational Chimpanzee tracking in this forest. Kibale forest is commonly acceptable of having the highest number of primates in East Africa . Together with Chimpanzees, you will also encounter other primate like the black and white Columbus monkeys, the red tailed monkeys, the blue checked mangabeys, and many others together with birdlife and butterflies. Return to the lodge for lunch or take a picnic lunch and When later go for a nature walk in Bigodi swamp. This walks is an initiative of the local community and takes around two hours. The swamp is known for its rich diversity of flora, birds and primates. Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 : KIBALE NATIONAL PARK - QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Wake up very early in the morning and have breakfast. The driver will then take you for a visit to the crater region then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national Park. The route from this park to Queen Elizabeth is gorgeous with views of the Rwenzori Mountains . A game drive en route is rewarding with chances of seeing antelopes, warthogs, Bushbucks, waterbucks, Hyenas, Elephants and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Institute of Ecology Hostel or Luxurious Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 6 : QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Wake up very early in the morning and take a cup of coffee as we head to the mating ground of the Uganda kobs along the Kasenyi track. We go searching for elephants, lions, buffaloes, Hyenas and other wild life in their habitats. Return to the lodge for mid morning breakfast and then lunch. In the afternoon we go for launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural inland waterway between Lake Edward and Lake George
. An encounter of elephants , buffaloes taking water and hundreds of hippos, and crocodiles will make you believe that this cruise is absolutely one of the highlights of your safari. Return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK - BWINDI

This day begins with an early morning chimp tracking experience in the Kyambura Wildlife Reserve. Walking through this Volcanically formed gorge a hundred metres deep will reward us with Wild chimpanzees in this tropical rain forest in the gorge and many other primate species. Later we will leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive to Bwindi. The scenic route runs through a luxuriant countryside while you pass traditional homesteads and farms. In Bwindi dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas, Lake Kitandara Luxury Tented Camp or Gorilla Forest camp.

Day 8 : BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Tracking these big gentle and docile primates in Bwindi is another and major highlight of this whole tour. Wake up very early in the morning and assemble at the centres for your family groups written on your gorilla permits for a briefing from the ranger guides on how to move in this ‘Impenetrable' forest. The tracking eco system is so beautiful as you trek and it is difficult to predict on how long you will take to encounter the Gorillas. Trekking may take 1-9 hours however and encounter of a family of these apes in a group with their silver backs is mesmerizing!! For conservation principles, time spent with the gorillas is restricted to one hour. The ranger guide always briefs you on how to conduct yourself with these giant apes. Return to lodge for dinner and over night.

Day 9 : BWINDI - KAMPALA

We begin the long but gratifying drive back to Kampala . On our way we will pass Mpigi royal drum maker and certainly the Ugandan Equator, where you can take pictures and shop for a souvenir. With lunch en route, we will arrive in Kampala by the end of the day. Dinner and overnight at Olympia Hotel/ Tourist hotel / Central inn/ Windsor hotel/ or Imperial resort beach hotel in Entebbe.

Day 10 : DEPARTURE

With this worthwhile experience of a lifetime and cherished memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa gifted by Nature! Depending on the time of departure you might have some time to spend in Kampala for a city tour. Visit the inspiring and historical sites, including the Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, the Uganda Museum and of course the African Craft Village or if you are in Entebbe you will take a tour around Entebbe and the afterwards transfer to Entebbe airport for your flights back home.
