MOUNTAINEERING IN UGANDA
Here in Uganda, Mountaineering is done on the Rwenzoris (the biggest Mountain range in Africa running over 120 Km along the boarder of Congo though not of volcanic origin.) and the Mt. Elgon. The highest mountain of this range is Mt Stanley whose main peak is Magherita 51109m being third in East Africa after Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya. The hike on the Rwenzori is a rare experience because whoever is interested in hiking. With in a few days hiking you will hike through the five different Vegetation Zones and will be amazed by the Giant Lobelias, variety of Colorful flowers like the Rwenzori Turaco.
Abbiron tours arrange two different hiking tours on the Rwenzori Mountains. In our packages, we provide the central circuit hike which takes you for 6 nights 7 days from hut to hut with a view of the main Rwenzori Peaks. Every body can try out this wonderful and exciting experience. The possibility is open for whoever wishes to climb the peaks which involves and extension of one day per peak.
We have the Rwenzori short or acclimation climb. This is easier though a trail to satisfy any needs like the families with children so that all can enjoy the beauty of the Rwenzori.
